How do I contact a librarian with a reference question?

Answer

There are a number of ways to contact a librarian.

  • Email the Reference Department (scref@south.edu). You will receive a response within 24 hours.  Emails on weekends may not receive a response until the following business day.
     
  • Chat with a librarian using the Ask a Librarian chat button during reference hours. 
     
  • Text a librarian at 865-217-7631 during reference hours. Texts sent outside of reference hours will receive a response on the following business day. 
     
  • Schedule an appointment with your program librarian using the "Schedule Appointment" button on their profile box or page. 
     
  • Call the library at 865-251-1832.
